cheating?

Yesterday was technically a smiley face day, but I didn't give myself the sticker.  I didn't stress eat at work, which is my trouble time, usually if I can make it through work I am golden.  But yesterday I got a call about 2:30 from our vet saying that Libby (see old blog for details) my dogs  tested positive for something called ehrlichiosis, a tick borne illness.  Of course I immediately look it up on the internet and it says in neon flashing letters (ok maybe not, but it sure felt like it) that this could be fatal.  I tried really hard not to stress too much, you know how the interwebs love to exaggerate and make everyone with a cold think they have a brain tumor.  I took off work an hour early to go to the doctor and pick up her medication and talk to the doctor.  They said that this disease is rarely ever fatal but she could show some symptoms kind of like leukemia but even that was unlikely.  She is on a month long round of antibiotics.

On the way home I started to get that adrenaline dump from the freak out.  I had to stop at the drug store to pick some stuff up and got 3 hershey bars 3/$1, but they were on sale!!  I ate one before I even left the parking lot.  So technically I could say that it was a smiley day since I didn't eat shit at work but I really went for it later.  Maybe I need to expand my smiley day rules.  The remaining chocolate was given to Dennis and is out of my house.

As if that wasn't bad enough Dennis brought home the greasiest cheesiest pizza in the history of pizza.  I blotted it 3 times and it was still swimming in grease.  Man it was good.  I could only manage one piece and I didn't force it.  I am kind of surprised I could eat that much!

So I know I am pretty much either first or last one to catch on to a fad.  I decided it was time I come out of the stone age and buy a crock pot.  Yes, I went my entire adult life living on my own without one.   I hate to cook though so I didn't see the need for one.  I bought some soup from the pre-made frozen dinner place and it said you can either put it in a crock pot or cock it in a sauce pan.  I caved and bought a crock pot because I am too lazy to stand over the pan, lol if it wasn't true.  So I put the soup in the crock pot when I went home at lunch to give Libby her medication.  I am kind of nervous that my house will burn down.  I know that people use them all the time without any problems but those people are not me.  Seriously if it can go wrong it will happen to me.  I will let you know how it turns out.

The rest of my week is going to be a blur....
Tomorrow - taking off half a day to get my eyes checked, get glasses, see Dr. A, need to find some green socks to wear Saturday
Friday - hair day!!!
Saturday - 5K and nails
Sunday - 3 hour Snake Run.  The trail is 4.2 miles, I hope to get two laps done in 3 hours.  I'm not sure how it will go since I have never done an actual trail run before.  I hope I don't fall and hurt myself.

Food has been OK today.  I polished off the last of the peanut butter, there wasn't much there.  I forgot my lunch at home and I had a meeting so I ended up eating two Bueno tacos.  My snack was a 100 calorie bag of chocolate pretzels (totally doesn't count towards my smiley).  Tonight we will eat the chicken and wild rice soup that may or may not be simmering in the crock pot.  I will also go for a 3 mile run tonight so that should help with the tacos that were not planned.  At least my stomach is back to normal.

  1. Sorry about Libby--but I bet she'll be fine. Dogs tend to be so much more resilient than we think!

Glad your stomach is feeling better--and I hope the crock pot worked for you! I don't use mine much anymore, but it's very handy for some things.

  3. Boo about Libby but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Crock pots are AMAZING and perfect for people who don't like to cook! You just put stuff in it and it magically makes it. I love mine. :)
