thank god it's friday eve

1.  I am still a non stop eating machine.  Pretty sure I have eaten at least 7 oreos since lunch, which was two fast food tacos :'(

2.  Took my "baby" Hunter to the vet yesterday to get his stitches out.  He always makes me a proud and happy momma.  He did great of course and located the treats right away (related to his mom much?)
Afterwards I took him to McDonald's for chicken nuggets.  I swear that dog can see the Golden Arches a block away.
And of course then he had to act like he was a really good boy so he could con as many out of me as possible.
I even bit them in two so he wouldn't get choked on them.  Those things make me gag.  There are no limits to what I would do for my boy.  He better appreciate it.  At least there was no chance of me eating them, blech.  I just love my guys so much.

3.  After the vet and getting Hunter settled in Dennis and I went to eat.  I got sirloin tips with peppers and onions and fries.  Believe it or not the fries were gross so I didn't eat them.  I looked up the calories on the steak and it says 397, so again, if it hadn't been for the crap food I ate sitting around work yesterday I would have been fine on calories.

4.  And you would think I would have learned my lesson but I had to have some brown socks to wear with my new outfit today so we went by Target to get some after dinner.  Well me being the smart person I am bought candy to restock my friends candy dish that I single handed emptied.  You would think I would get some stuff that I hate but nope.  More snickers, m&m, 3 musketeers, twix....ya know, the good stuff.  I should have gotten payday and butterfingers because gross.  I am my own worse enemy.

5.  My plan is to run when I get off work.  Even if it is just a block.  It is 46 degrees outside but the wind is horrible.  Hey that is what face masks are for right?  Plus there is always the gym.  I will not be running in the fitness room at work.

6.  I am going shopping with my mom and sister either at lunch or after work tomorrow.  I don't know that I will feel like buying much since I don't feel particularly good about myself but you never know.  Purses always fit, just ask my closet full of purses.

7.  I am going to get my nails done on Saturday.  I figured I might as well live it up before they furlough me!!

8.  I think I am going to go buy some flowers at Whole Foods this weekend to put on my desk.  Maybe it will help my mood.  When/if someone asks what they are for I will tell them it's just because this place sucks and I needed something pleasant to look at.  Ok, maybe not.

9.  I no longer feel sick.  Man strep is a real pain in the ass.  I haven't taken NyQuil in two nights.  The withdraws really suck, lol

10. I called my doctor's office today to see about getting a fill.  I told the nurse that I want to be really tight for awhile until things kind of calm down.  If he is unable to unwilling to do that I will ask him if he can give me something for anxiety or refer me to a counselor for awhile.  Since I was self pay I never had to do the psych screenings.  There is a sports nutritionist who runs with our group but the thing is I know what to do I am just not doing it.  I would rather pay a personal trainer who I turned my food log into and kicked my butt for every m&m I eat.  My appointment is March 11 so we will see....

Once an addict

So as I wrote my blog yesterday about how I really need to start over and eat healthy I was eating "fun sized" Snickers and Hershey bars.  I am not proud.

Looking back I am not sure that I ever committed to healthy eating.  I have used my band to control my portions and somewhat stayed away from slider foods but I still ate pretty much whatever the fuck I wanted, just significantly less of it.  I know this is not what the band is about and not how I should use it but I just can't seem to get a handle on things.

My meals were actually pretty good yesterday, chicken caesar pasta at about 400 calories per serving for dinner (of course I didn't eat a full serving) and about a third of leftover whole wheat baked ziti for lunch.  If I hadn't snarfed on chocolate and root beer all day it would have been a win.

Then there is the peanut butter addiction.  I saw something online the other day that eating peanut butter out of the jar is a huge pitfall, about 140 calories per spoonful.  I don't know about you but I know I eat more than a couple of those bad boys.  I had been eating it for breakfast but now I am scared to death to open the jar, afraid I will fall in face first.

The keyboard for my new Kindle came in the mail today so I stopped on my way back to work to get batteries and I picked up Reese's peanut butter eggs and golden oreos.  The cashier had trouble getting the pb eggs to ring in so I told her to put them back but the oreos went through just fine.  I need to put the oreos out  in the shared food area at work just so I won't eat them all, even though I hate work and everything and everyone that goes along with it.  What better reason to give them diabetes I guess.

I just can't get past this feeling that I am a complete and utter failure.  I am sure that the work crap is adding to that but regardless I need to find my way out of it.

Another problem is that I haven't worked out since Saturday the 16th.  I need to do something, even if it is just giving Dexter a concussion with a kettle bell, poor dog.  I am really just now starting to feel like myself again after having strep, and I am more than capable of doing some kind of physical activity I just haven't, too cold, too wet.  Tomorrow I tell myself.

I am taking off an hour early from work (45 more minutes!!) to have Hunter's stitches taken out from his surgery last week.  Later Dennis and I are going out to eat because I have a groupon that expires today.  More food.

I could go in and get a fill but I don't think the problem is with the band, it is with my mental health and just generally stuffing my stress and feelings with crap.

I'm not sure what to do.

moving on

So to update my work situation, called in on Friday because I knew I was too mad to talk to the boss about what was going on.  I went shopping instead (Loft had an awesome sale!!)

When I got to work yesterday I had an email that said she needed to see me first thing.  Well I wasn't going to walk in there until she called me, which she did shortly after I sat down.  I went into her office and sat down and she started in that she was NOT my enemy but she was my supervisor and that I was not to ever tell her that something she tells me is inappropriate!!  I stood up and said this is obviously going to get ugly because you can’t tell me what I can't say to you and refused to talk further until we get the EEO mediator up to set in on the meeting.  I could tell by the look on her face that she wasn’t expecting that at all.  I think she also realized that I forwarded the emails to the EEO lady.  She changed her tune when the mediator got there and was all of a sudden just trying to help me.  I let her know that I that by leaving that message and being gone the next day she was being a bully and it was in no way the right thing to do (to which the mediator agreed).  The position that I am over has turned into a training position and I have a new employee every 6 months so it isn’t fair to expect me to get the same amount and quality of work out as the other lead that is the lead over someone who has been doing the same job for eons.  It is hard enough to do my job but I also have to assign a new person work, train them, answer all their questions, review the work and keep up with all the other meetings and crap I have to do.

I seriously doubt if anything changes, but I do feel good about standing up for myself and the boss will be retiring this summer anyway.  She told me that everything was forgotten when I left the office but I still have very little respect  or trust in her.

I guess we will find out Friday if we will get our 22 furlough days.  I am kind of torn.  No, I don’t want to lose 20% of my pay but one less day a week in this place sure sounds nice.  I know I could get a part time job on the weekends but since we pretty much live on my paycheck anyway I think it will be ok if I just start letting Dennis contribute to the cell phones, cable, insurance, etc.

Since HMF backed out of the Austin trip last week (I am so done with it) and I am not going to run Oklahoma City this year that will save some money.  I will do Joplin but I have a hotel paid for with points and gas shouldn’t be too much, it is about an hour away.  I really want to do St. Louis and Springfield too but since they are in the fall I have some time to plan and save up.
Since obviously my life revolves around running I am about to go nuts.  I haven’t ran in 10 days.  I wanted to last night, the weather was perfect, low 40’s and light rain.  But, they were calling for a blizzard and I had to make the obligatory grocery trip.  Of course the blizzard didn’t happen and we are just stuck with wet roads.  I may go to the gym and run tonight but it isn’t the same on the TM.  I really don’t want to run with my work friend, I don’t want to be around anything that has to do with work once I am off the clock.

I am going to have to start watching my diet again.  I need to go in and see the band doctor but I really don’t need to take off work since I was off most of last week.  I know I could use a small fill but I probably just need to start watching what I put in my mouth instead of relying on the band to restrict the amount of food.  I have really been eating crap food.  It doesn’t help when Dennis brings home 4 boxes of girl scout cookies.  We are down to the thin mints, which I don’t care for but you know I am eating them by the handful.  I haven’t really logged since after my surgery but I think I really need to start doing that again.  I know my calories aren’t that high but the lack of quality in those calories makes a huge difference.  Stress and being sick is really making it hard for me.

really hate my job right now

I am back at work today but would give anything to have stayed home.

My boss is gone today but left me a really nasty message telling me that a co-worker had to finish a project because I was out sick. I had all the research done and a draft report but hadn't made the changes or set it up the way they wanted it (which I didn't know, just knew what I did wasn't what they wanted). Anyway, I was told that having to assign my work to other people is unacceptable. OK, if I had been here I would have done it.

Then she finishes the message by telling me my office area needs cleaned up, that my area is a disgrace and a poor example to other employees. If she doesn't see a "marked improvement" I will not have a good mid-year review and that I am on the brink of failure in the position I am in.

Seriously? WTF!!! I really just want to pack my stuff up and tell her that if I suck that bad then to move me, I don't need this kind of stress over one assignment and a freaking unorganized area.

So now I am crying and that makes me even more upset!!

sick day

I am on day 2 of sick leave for strep throat.  I do feel better and maybe could have worked at least part of the day but I still have a little fever and it is snowing outside and I didn't want to have to deal with that on top of being sick.  I will have to suck it up and go in tomorrow regardless.

Am I the only one who watches court tv while they are home sick?  I am watching a trail of this really straight laced looking girl who killed her boyfriend and is telling all the explicit stories about their sex life that are making me blush.  They know she killed him but they are trying to decide if they are going to give her the needle or not.  I would have never suspected this girl to be someone who could brutally kill someone.  At one point she told police that Ninja's killed her boyfriend.  Oh, lord.

Eating has kind of sucked.  All I want is root beer.  Water tastes so gross to me and I'm really not even hungry, I just want root beer, and I have drank my body weight in it over the last few days.
When I was a kid I used to have strange dreams about my mom's iced tea when I was sick.  I figure it has something to do with running a fever and the dehydration it causes.  I had those dreams again but this time with A&W.

I did run on Saturday and felt good.  My knee kind of felt wonky on the way back so I slowed down a little but over all it was a great run.  I cheated my ass off with the cards and got a really cute pink for the cure New Balance shirt with a dog theme.  It is the perfect shirt for me.

Hunter's surgery went well even though he gave the vet a few problems, which is so unlike him.  He held his breath while they were putting him under.  When they got him under and turned the gas down he got up while they were trying to shave the area the growth was on.  It freaked the vet out because Hunter is the most compliant dog ever but we had a good laugh about it when I picked him up.  He gets his stitches out a week from today and he hasn't even seemed to notice they are there.  He is such a good boy.  Oh, and we did tell the vet we didn't want to know if it was cancer since he is too old for treatment.  They understood and told us they were 99% sure it is fine.

Got my last shot in the knee on Monday.  I thought about cancelling it since I was so sick but since I was out with Hunter anyway I just got it over with. It didn't hurt at all this time, just a little discomfort.  My knee is feeling almost normal now.  Of course I haven't done much to test it out.  I am just so glad that is over.  Maybe this time it will last for a year.

I'm pretty sure the Austin trip for the 10/20 isn't going to happen.  I am pretty sure the friend I was going to go with is going to back out.  I don't really want to go solo.  I hope it all works out though, we had a blast last year.  We need to get it figured out because it is in April and I need to know if I should buy a plane ticket or not.  I am not good at waiting until the last minute.

Regardless, I have decided to do my first trail run.  It is called the Snake Run and instead of it being a certain distance it is either 3 or 6 hours and you run however far you can in that time limit.  I signed up once before but it had snowed and I am not a fan of mud.  Hopefully the weather will hold up and that won't be a problem this year.

It's Nyquil time.  Gotta make the most of it since I will have to go to work tomorrow.

new design!!

My new blog design is up!!  Thanks Jen for doing an amazing job, I love it!!

I tried every excuse I could think of to get out of running yesterday but none worked.  Even WRF was trying to find a way out.  The weather was nice and we just couldn't back out.  I didn't download my Garmin data but I know we did the first mile just under 12.  Right around the second mile the back of my knee started to feel tight and the knee itself kind of felt soft and squishy.  I know that probably doesn't make sense but that is pretty much the only way I can think of to describe it.  So I only did 2.25 miles at a 12:35 pace.  I really need to slow down and just relax and have fun at the poker run tomorrow or I wont be able to do 5 miles.

Dennis got home as I was sitting down to ice my knee and we decided to go to a little Tex-Mex place that I love.  I told him I would buy him dinner for V-Day.  We got home, watched the Big Bang Theory and I took a long bath and read my new book on the Kindle.  Even though we don't buy each other gifts or anything, those are my favorite kind of days.

After dinner last night I ran into the grocery store next to the restaurant to feed my white chocolate peanut butter addiction, there were so many men standing in line with flowers and stuffed animals it was unreal.  I seriously lol'ed.

So tomorrow is the poker run.  It is five miles, each mile you get a card.  When you get back you show the cards to a moderator and they call people up to a table to pick a prize based on your cards.  Normally there are a few of us together that swap up cards, a huge no-no but it isn't really a big deal run.  You pay $5, it is just to raise money for snacks and sports drink for the running group.  But the prizes can be pretty amazing.

I am off work on Monday and have to take Hunt man to have the growth removed.  I need to talk to the vet but I am pretty sure I am going to ask her not to have it sent off to be biopsied.  Hunter will be 13 this summer so what are we going to do if we find out it is cancer?  I almost think it is better not to know at this point.  I would do treatment on a dog but probably not one that old.  I don't want him to be miserable the last years of his life.  Guess we will talk about it when I see her.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

TTT

1.  It's VD y'all, which means absolutely nothing to me.  We don't celebrate it at all.  As a matter of fact we kind of trade off and go out Super Bowl Sunday instead.

2.  Supposed to run tonight but I am looking for any excuse not to.  I was kind of hoping my friend would have last minute plans with her family but it looks like I am stuck doing a 3 mile run after work.  It's ok, I am pretty sure I will live, probably.

3.  A guy at work was asking me about the injections I am getting so I googled it to send the info to him.  On the first page it says exercise not recommended 48 hours after the injection.  Oops.

4.  I am getting impatient for my blog design.  I am so excited!!

5.  I had to cancel the appointment with my band doctor on Monday.  Originally I was going to drop Hunter off for surgery, go to see Dr. A at 11:30 and have my last injection at 4:00.  I asked if I could come in earlier for my shot because the ortho doctor's office is in the 9th circle of hell and it takes forever to get in and out of the area.  I want to be able to go pick up Hunter if he is ready early.  I know the chances of getting a fill are slim, it was just a check up after the last fill so it isn't really THAT big of a deal.

6.  It isn't even 10 and I am already trying to figure out what I want for lunch.  Sad thing is I am not even hungry.

7.  So my friend (who doesn't need to lose weight) went to a diet doctor and he sold her appetite suppressants and water pills.  The water pills gave her a headache so she asked me if I wanted them.  I took one yesterday and I am down 4 pounds.  I know it is a big no-no but I am thinking about taking one every 3 days or so.

8.  Feeling uber lazy.  I can't wait to get home from work, change into sweats and read my new Jonathan Kellerman book.

9.  I am kind of heart broken about he news of Oscar Pistorious being arrested for murdering his girlfriend!!  He is the guy they referred to as "Blade Runner" the double amputee that ran in the "normal" olympics.  I had such an admiration for him.  PED I can kind of look past, a la Lance Armstrong, murder, not so much.  I hope the reports of it being an accident are true but still, what a sad situation.

10.  Really looking forward to the poker run on Saturday.  I haven't really ran an organized event in a long time and I am curious to see how I stack up among the people I used to run with regularly.  Or, if I panic and choke like I am known to do.  It is not timed but for some reason I can really psych myself out in a group.

Hope everyone has a sweet VD!!

fat fat fatty

That is how I feel today.  I know I should say that I feel unhealthy but that isn't entirely true.  I just feel FAT.  My weight is up to 116.6 and I can't for the life of me figure out why.  OK, maybe I do have a clue but controlling it is another issue.  I just have this fear that the numbers will just continue to go up until I am right back up towards the 200 mark.  This sucks.  I am pretty sure if I could get my sugar consumption under control I would feel better.

My second shot went ok.  It hurt like hell and the doctor actually apologized twice as I was writhing in pain.  But, the shot and the appointment went really fast and I was in and out of there in 15 minutes.  I don't have the pain like I did after my first shot so it seems to be kicking in.  My knee is bruised up and swollen and sore but I am putting ice on it and propping it up trying to get the inflamation down before I go back for my last shot next Monday.

I did some cardio yesterday.  Neither one of us wanted to run after work so we made a deal that I would run for 15 minutes and she would ride the recumbent bike for 15 minutes and then we would switch.  It was the funniest thing ever.  WRF is not a biker.  As a matter of fact in the first 3 minutes she was complaining about how hard it was.  I asked her what level she had it set on, thinking it got cranked up and wasn't reset, nope, it was on level 1.  If it wasn't for the fact that WRF is 16 years younger than me and a natural athlete I wouldn't have made fun of her as much as I did, but I got to be better at something for a change, lol.   She is still complaining today about how hard the bike was.  I ended up running 1.15 miles in 30 minutes, a 13.20 pace.  Although I would consider it slow miles now last year I am not sure I could have ran a mile straight at a 13 minute mile.  I biked 3.2 miles in 15 minutes.  My knee feels ok today, a little stiff.

Dennis took Hunter to the vet on Monday to have the growth looked at.  The vet wants it to come off so I will take him in Monday.  I have the day off for President's Day.  It will be a busy one.  I have to get Hunt dropped of, have my last orthovisc shot and get in to my band doctor.  I am not sure if I need a fill or not.  I kind of feel like I need to practice more self control and keep at my current level.  But then again isn't that what I got the damn band for in the first place?  If I get too much of a fill it will be harder to fuel for running.  I will talk it over with Dr. A and see what he has to say.

Not sure that we have anything planned for Valentine's Day.  I am not a big fan of the day.  Thursday's are run days which I don't need to skip but I don't know if WRF will want to run or if she will have plans with her husband.  I really haven't planned on getting Dennis anything and I doubt if he will get me anything.  We are not card people so but  I thought about getting a gift card for dinner so we could both use it at a later date.  That was before we found out we would have a $600 vet bill next week.  Maybe I will go by Papa Murphey's and get a heart shaped pizza for dinner.  I am not going to stress out about it.

Shot day

I hope all of the fellow bloggers in the Northeast are starting to defrost and are re-powered. I don't envy you AT.ALL.

I go in this afternoon for my second orhovisc injection. My knee is just now starting to feel normal again :bang: It's all good though. Once more and my knee will be as good as new for at least 6 months.

Last week was low on exercise. I planned on running Thursday but it was rainy so we went to the fitness room at work. There are 2 treadmills but one was taken. I told Kim to take the TM and I would do the elliptical. I was on it for about 3 minutes when I remembered that I really hate the elliptical. So I rode the recumbent bike instead. I tried to run on Saturday; went out with no expectations on mileage. I made it about 2 miles before my knee felt like it was going to fall off. So I just turned around and ran as fast as I could back home.

We looked through the data from my garmin and it is amazing how much faster I have gotten (Kim has always been fast) We went from doing a 41 minute 5K to always coming in under 40. My first mile on Saturday was 11:33, and that was injured!! I can't wait to see some changes in my longer mileage.

Saturday night we rented movies; Flight, Paranormal Activity 4, and Hotel Transylvania. They were OK. Dennis liked Flight but he is a big nerd when it comes to that kind of movie. I fell asleep during PA 4, it was boring.

My weight this morning was way up, like from 112 to 116.6!! I think some of it has to be water. Last night I couldn't get enough to drink. It was very odd. This was pretty close to the time I went to bed so I am sure that is part of the reason. I am a pee machine this morning. The other part was the two big bags of peanut butter M&M's Dennis brought me. He really needs to stop it. Between me and Hunter we ate almost one entire bag over the weekend (Hunter  peanut butter as much as his mom). Honestly it was more me than Hunter, he probably got one out of a handful :sad2:

Dennis had to take Hunter to the vet this morning. He was laying on the couch Saturday night and I saw a growth about an inch long on the inside of his leg. Of course I started to freak out. The vet said it is probably nothing but they are going to remove it next Monday. I am torn between wanting them to biopsy it and not. He is 12. If it is cancer what can we do with an elderly dog? Maybe it is just best not to know so his parents don't get an ulcer thinking about it. We have a week to decide.  Let me know if you want to see a picture of it because you know I took one to send to the vet.  She should have never given me her cell phone number....

OK, this week's planned exercise is bike tomorrow, depending on how bad the knee hurts; maybe I could run a mile? Probably won't run from work on Thursday since it is valentine's day but I will probably do something either run at home or go to the gym and do the bike. Saturday is the poker run 5 miler. I am looking forward to that.

OK lots of work to do and taking off at 1:00 for the doctor so I better get to it.

Friday

I thought Friday would never get here.  I swear yesterday between 10 and 11 was the longest hour of my life and that includes the hour I had dental surgery.

The plan for yesterday was to run after work but it was raining and my WRF is a wimp (j/k) so we went to the fitness room downstairs.  There are 2 treadmills and one of them was taken.  Kim offered up the treadmill to me but I told her I would do the elliptical instead since it is supposed to be easier on the knees.  I was on it for 5 minutes before I realized, OMG, I forgot how much I hate the elliptical!!!  So I hopped off and got on the recumbent bike.  I did 6.15 miles in 30 minutes.  I was on the bike about 2 minutes when my knee felt like it was going to lock up so I kicked it out to the side of the bike and it popped really loud and was fine.  There was a group of people doing P90X and it was good motivation to move.  I almost wish we would have ran outside though because it was so freaking HOT in that room!!

Last night I took a long bubble bath and read a book on my Kindle.  I had a little bit of pain when I straightened my leg but other than that it was fine.

My plan is to get in a run tomorrow morning.  Not sure how far I will make it.  The training group is doing 9 but if I can get 6 in I will feel like I made a huge accomplishment.

Nothing much planned for the weekend.  I know there are some redbox movies we want to watch but other then that it looks to be a lazy (except for the run) couple of days.

grumpasaurus rex

I am a little cranky this morning.  I could totally be one of those old ladies comparing aches, pains and ailments with everyone.

It does indeed appear that we will have an early spring judging from my allergies.  I started running a low grade fever yesterday so I called my doctor and asked if they would just call in a Z-Pack for me since I can't really take off work and I don't want to be around people who are really sick and be exposed to germs.  My doctor is the bomb and had it called in pretty much right away.  I do feel a little better after the first dose but my damn nose is running so much it has broken out from the lotion in my tissues.

My knee is starting to feel better.  I still haven't exercised on it because I am afraid it will hurt.  I know that doesn't even make sense but it takes about 48 hours for the inflammation and stuff to go down after the shot.  It kind of feels good right now and I don't want to run and make it flair up again.  I know the doctor will ask me Monday how it felt to run on it when I go back on Monday.  I plan on running tonight even if I have to just do a mile on the treadmill.

I love my new running/gym bag!!  It is perfect.  I haven't tried to shove it in the gym locker yet, but it doesn't look like it will take too much manipulation to get it in there.  I need to start doing my Monday night treadmill speed work again but will probably wait until after I finish up with the shots.

Sidney, at 13 years old, finally figured out how to open the trash can lid.  The first time I thought maybe Dennis left it open when he left for work.  Sid got a stern "NO" and I picked up what he had gotten into and shut the lid.  A few minutes later he was stretched up on his back legs with the lid open again, the little shit.  I just put the trash can outside but will have to buy a smarter trash can this weekend.  What's funny is none of the big dogs have ever gotten into the trash and they probably could get in with out much effort.  He is such a little adventurer, the older he gets the more brave he is.

Today is pizza day at work.  Our boss is buying for everyone, this way he can force us to have a meeting on our own time.  He is robbing us of our lunch hour to talk about furloughs and shut downs.  Excatly what I want to be doing at lunch.  I hope he tells us what happened to the crazy lady that works/worked here.  Pretty sure she got fired but no one is talking.  She was escorted off of the premises last week.

My weight was at 112 even this morning!!!  I figure it will kind of be up and down while I am going through the stuff with my knee but I am really happy with the down part!!  I go back to the band doctor on Feb. 18th and I am pretty sure he will be happy with my fluid level and keep me there.  I could probably have a little bit of a fill but I know I need to keep it a little loose so I can eat enough to fuel some long runs.

I can't wait for my new blog format to be ready!  I saw a sample of it last night and it is so stinking cute.  Jen is going to tweak it a little bit (or a lot since I have no clue how hard it is to edit) but it looks like it is close to being finished.  So can't wait.

OK, now that I have vented a little I feel better.

shot one down

So, this is what I had done to my knee yesterday.  The second picture makes me a little woozy and I am not a needle-phobe (except giving blood).  I am not going to lie, it hurt(s) like hell.  The gel is really thick and and I can kind of feel it moving around inside my knee.  OK maybe I can't I just think I can, either way it is a little strange.  One down, two more to go!!

I have had a lot of people asking me why I still run if I have such bad problems with my knees.  I will try to keep this down to the Reader's Digest version.  I was in dance at a very young age and loved it, was really good at it too.  I started having really bad knee pain and went to the doctor to see what was going on.  Turns out I had Osgood Schlatter, the doctor pulled me out of all activity even gym at school.  Shortly after this was diagnosed my dad got laid off and I was taken out of dance.  I always blamed the knee problems for having to stop dance, although now I know it was probably more of a financial thing.  I still have problems with pateller tracking, not sure if this was caused by the OS or if it cause the OS but either way I wouldn't know what life would be like without some kind of knee problems.  I have very little cartilage left in my knee, thus the visceral fluid "cushion".  My doctor knows I like to run and he told me yesterday that as long as the injections work we can do them up to every 6 months.  Once they stop working he will look into surgical options.  At any rate, I don't want my crappy knees to rob me of something else I enjoy doing. The shots hurt like hell for less than a minute, my knee is sore for a couple of days and I am pain free for 6 months.  A small price to pay.  Even if I do pass out a little.

My eating is crap.  I took my sister to eat last night.  I was proud of myself for not getting a glass of wine, this sister doesn't drink so that helps.  We got an appetizer; Italian Nachos, god they were good.  I also got tortellini.  I ended up snarfing on the nachos and hardly touching the meal.  Next time I won't bother with an entree.  But, I have my lunch for today.

My weight is still the same.  I go back to the band doctor on the 18th, not sure if he will give me another small fill or not.  I kind of wonder if some of the weight might be because of the inflammation in my knee and the injection....and the sodium from the nachos, doh.

I have decided not to run today.  I will run with my friend after work tomorrow.  I warned her that I might have to walk and she said that was fine with her, or we could even go to the fitness room downstairs at work and do the bike.  I kind of want to run a little and see if it works some of the stiffness out.  Guess I will cross that bridge tomorrow.

Monday madness

The weekend was good, went by way too fast!!  Saturday I went to the mall to check out a huge sale.  I picked up a half a dozen things, carried them around for awhile and put them back.  What I needed/wanted was some running pants and the ones they had were UA and even with an extra 30% off clearance they were $35.  So I went to Penny's and found three pair for $12 each.  One of them is the most obnoxious print running tights.  I can't wait to wear them!!  I will have to take a picture of them.  After the mall I took Dennis  lunch at work and we ate in his little office.  The other guys he works with just can't seem to leave him alone when I am around.  I am sure it has something to do with the fact that he is a complete smart ass.

I ran 3 miles yesterday.  I know I said I was going to do 5 but my knee started to get stiff and my allergies were kicking my ass.  I have this serious tickle going on in my left nostril that makes me want to stick something up my nose to scratch it.  It's driving me nuts.  But I digress.  I did 3 miles at a 12:25 pace!!  Normally I have to have someone run with me and push me to run that pace.  Plus I ran my neighborhood which has some serious hills.  I was very pleased.  Looks like a sub-3 half may happen one of these days!!

Dennis and I both hate football and can't stand the NFL because of the lack of ethics they seem to have for the athletes, so we went out to eat yesterday.  We go every Superbowl Sunday and it is a great day to go out.  We went to Sante Fe Steakhouse because I had a Groupon.  I got a kids meal portion of steak and was actually able to eat half of it, steak has always been hard for me.  It was really good.  Afterwards we went to see if the new DQ had opened yet.  It had so of course we had to get ice cream.  I got a mini blizzard with peanut butter cups.  A little piece of heaven.  I didn't eat all of it but the damage was done.  It was so worth it though.

Today is my little sister's birthday.  Her husband is out of town working and Dennis has a geek fest ham radio meeting so I am going to take her to dinner tonight.  Another high calorie day.

This afternoon I go see the butt doctor ortho to see if he will give me another series of shots in my knee.  I am so nervous, they hurt so freaking bad.  But, they are worth it since I haven't had any pain in my knee since I have gotten the first series.  I know he is going to tell me to stop running.  He does every time.  I also know he will tell me I will have to have a knee replacement at some point in my life.  OK, whatever.  I am not going to sit around and wait for it to happen, might as well hurry it along.  I just hope if he is going to do the shots he starts today so we can get it over with.

I have also been calling ENT's to see if any of them give shots in the sinus cavity through the nose.  Years ago I went to a doctor that did this and it worked so well.  I guess it was really dangerous because I can't find a single doctor who is willing to do that now.  It is 100 times better than any allergy shots I have gotten and I have tried pretty much everything for my allergies.  The doctor I used to go to was about 120 years old and has long since retired.  I just really wish this tickle in my nose would go away and take the sinus pain with it!!  Spring is such a "lovely" time of year....
