Ten Things – short week style
1. My mom has colon cancer and no matter what I do or what I am trying to think about, it is always the first thing on my mind. She goes in today for the PET scan and her surgery is June 14. My older sister is a total bitch and is acting like our mom is doing this just to inconvenience her. You would hope it was just her coping mechanism but nope, she is really that selfish.
2. The book I finally settled on was Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It is an excellent book
3. Don’t ever talk about finding the perfect book to read around the office. A girl that works in our finance division that was working on my computer settings Friday heard me talking about trying to find a book to read over the holiday. Turns out she just wrote a book and needed someone that wasn’t family to give her an honest opinion. I hate it. Can’t get past the first few pages but I am going to finish it so I can give her an honest account of what needs to be fixed. Lord help me.
4. I signed up for a 5K tomorrow night just to make sure I get out and run. The girl I met while running the Joplin run emailed me and asked if I wanted to get together and run with her. I decided I would rather run with her instead of doing the whole 5K thing. Besides, I already picked up the packet and have my t-shirt. I just wanted to make sure I ran tomorrow. We are supposed to do a long run this weekend. I am going to ask her if she wants to go to Kansas City in October, or Springfield November….or any half, I am having withdrawls. She is a much more positive person than HMF (high maintenance friend) and that makes a world of difference when you have a long run with someone.
5. I promised a report out; off of my desk and in the mail by COB tomorrow, and I haven’t even started it. My supervisor told us that there will be a staff meeting sometime today, which means 4 hours wasted. So I should be working on that instead of writing out ten things but I have priorities damn it.
6. Weight is still at 119, which, with all the stress I am going through right now is kind of shocking to me. I am used to gaining when I feel like this. Is it bad that I want to change my goal to 115? I am 5’3” so I don’t think that is anywhere near too small.
7. My iPhone is jacked up. The on off button isn’t functioning. I can’t afford a new phone right now but OMG I do not want to hang out at the apple store while they look at it. That place makes me a nervous wreck.
8. Getting my hair done tomorrow or I would hang out at the pool this weekend. I hate being in the sun right after I get my hair colored. Seems like a waste of money. But I can’t wait to try out my new swimsuit!!
9. I really want the new running shorts Athleta has in their catalog (page 23) but $56 for running shorts? Am I alone in thinking that is a lot of freaking money for something I am only going to use to run in? Wow.
10. I am addicted to Veronica Mars. The reruns are on Soap Network. I watched the first season and part of the second when it originally aired but was deployed to New Orleans and Lake Charles after Katrina/Rita and missed a lot of the second and third (last) season. I am almost caught up with it and I have no idea what I will do with my afternoons once I am. Gosh I guess I could get off my lazy butt and go for a run….

The good and the bad
My weight is down to 119. Now that I am almost to my 118 goal I wonder if 115 is doable. My friends are worried about me, thinking that I am going to keep lowering my goal until I make myself sick, but I really don't see that happening. I love to eat what little bit I can.
I bought my first 'bikini' Monday. It isn't really a bikini but it is not as long as a typical tankini. It shows about the lower 1/3 of my tummy, below the belly button. I really like the way I look in the suit. I never thought I would see that day!!
My doggie Hunter is doing great. They removed a 15oz tumor from his groin. It was just a fatty tumor but we were afraid it would impede his mobility. He came home with an inflatable e-collar; which looks like a butt donut. I laughed so hard at him. He looked so cute. I stayed home with him all weekend. His daddy got nurse duty on Monday. We took the butt donut off on Saturday and never put it back on him. He didn't mess with the drain tube or the stitches. I took him yesterday and got the drain tube removed. They said everything looks great, stitches come out on Monday.
In not so good news, I found out my mom has colon cancer. She is usually the most melodramatic person ever, but she is being kind of quiet about this, which worries me even more then if she were playing it up. He goes in tomorrow for a PET scan and has the surgery on June 14. Me and my little sister took her to get our nails done and shopping on Monday. She said she knows it is crazy but ever since they told her she has had a stomach ache. I told her if it were me I would probably rip my guts out knowing there is cancer growing inside me! I am taking of work the afternoon of her surgery. It isn't until 11:30 and is supposed to take 5 hours. She will be in the hospital 5 days. My other sister is being a total bitch about it, acting like my mom did this on purpose for attention. They have several expensive boats and a lake house and she can't be bothered with this stuff. My mom tried to call her yesterday and she wouldn't even answer the phone. Of course she was probably still sleeping off whatever damage she did to herself over the holiday. I won't be surprised if she doesn't call or visit her at all.
In light of everything else, I haven't exercised since the Joplin Half last Saturday. Of course I am also getting my second injection in my knee. Maybe taking it easy until that is over isn't a bad thing? The weather is supposed to be really nice later this week so I will at least get a walk in, even if I don't feel like running yet. I have the Color Run 5K in June (which isn't timed), after that I don't have another run until October, which will either be Kansas City half or the Tulsa Run 15K, maybe both, who knows how my running will be then. I just hate to lose the momentum I have right now.
OK, gotta get my stuff together to go to the doctor. Not looking forward to this AT.ALL

TTT - already
1. I finally met my initial goal weight. The last two days my weight has been 120.4!! I was so freaking happy. I wore a size 0 pants to work yesterday. Granted they were bigger than a typical 0 but still!!! Onward to 118.
2. My sweet little Hunter, my almost 12 year old lab mix, has to have surgery tomorrow to remove a fatty tumor from his groin area. He has problems with his hip and gets acupuncture and monthly adequan shots, which help a lot. Both his regular vet and the Eastern medicine vet think this will help with his mobility but mommy and daddy are a nervous wreck. He will have to have a drain tube in for a few days after so I am going to stay home with him the first couple of days and his daddy will stay with him the next few. He may be a little spoiled.
3. I haven’t worked out once this week. Not once. My knee is still sore from the injection that I got on Monday, it is bruised a little but damn what do you expect from a 3 inch long needle. I am so not looking forward to having this process repeated twice over the next two weeks.
4. It is almost summer, I am probably in the minority but I HATE summer for many reasons.
- bugs
- kids EVERYWHERE – I am not a kid person (sorry)
- I have a heart condition and it is exasperated by the heat. I can’t run outside in it or my heart rate
goes sky high, like 220, in a very short time. Although the doctor’s have said it isn’t dangerous, it isn’t comfortable either.
-I don’t like being hot, but you can’t just wear shorts because if you go inside anywhere it is 4 below.
-summer just makes me feel lazy.
I am sure there is more but I think you get the idea. It is already in the 90’s here and I am miserable. It is going to be another summer of 114 degree days.
5. Despite my grumbling I am in a pretty good mood; much better than last week.
6. I went to the grocery store to stock up on everything since I don’t plan on leaving the house this weekend. I got really light headed so I decided to stop and eat at the Mexican place next door. I got an ala carte enchilada and a margarita (probably didn’t help my light headed feeling but it was $1.49!) and got change back from a $5 bill. I couldn’t finish my food. My wallet sure does love my band even if I do cuss it sometimes.
7. I ordered a board to hold my half marathon medals from this season. If you google lifespeed sports you can see what they look like. Mine is going to hold 6 medals, since I hope to do 2 more this year, and have “half fanatic #2424” on it. It will take 6 weeks so I am a little anxious about that. I am an instant gratification kind of gal.
8. I want a bikini so bad but I am not comfortable with my stomach, it is all saggy. I need to bite the bullet and go to a real store like Dillards and try some on instead of Ross or Marshalls. The bottom part of my stomach is fine so if I can just find a tankini that covers the top part of my stomach I would be happy. I haven’t really been looking for one since I can’t wear a two piece to aqua jogging (it is at Oral Roberts University pool). But, I have season passes for the water park and it will be opening soon. I want to step out of my box a little bit.
9. I left my cell phone at home today and I am about to go nuts. I am going to have to go home at lunch and get it because I can’t handle being without it. Luckily I remembered to put my nano in my purse so I have some music to listen to.
10. I need a book to read. I am not the 50 shades of grey or whatever it is called kind of person. I am more of the psychological thriller kinda gal; like Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Jonathan Kellerman. I can’t seem to find anything new on Amazon or from the digital selections at the library except chick lit…maybe another reason I hate summer. I don’t plan on doing much actual work tomorrow, my goal is to find the perfect book to read over the weekend.

knee pain
Yesterday I had my first for 3 synthetic visceral fluid injections in my knee. I am not going to lie, it hurt. It did go a lot faster then I thought it would though. He injected a numbing medication and I figured he would have to inject that and come back and do the gel injection but he did it all at the same time. I kept having to remind myself not to jerk my knee back. I get to go back and do this again once a week for 2 more weeks. Good times. My knee hurts worse now then it did before I went in. It feels stiff and kind of like it needs to pop.
I haven't really discussed my weight in awhile. I am still at 122.2. My initial goal weight was 120-125, when I got closer to that weight I changed it to 118. I am only 5'3" so the doctor had no problem with that. Apparently my body does because I am at my lowest and have been for several weeks. I have gone up with some minor binges but I always come back to 122.2. I wear a size 2/4 so I really can't complain but it would be nice to see something below 120.
Not sure what I am going to do for workouts this week. I am restricted for the next three weeks to low impact, until I get this series of injections done. I could have gone to the pool and aqua jogged yesterday but I was being a big baby. I may just take this week off. I have to be careful though because I will get really depressed after my running season is over. I have a half marathon in October and one in November but it seems so far out. I just need to keep my level of fitness up, 13 miles is so easy now compared to how it used to be, I don't want it to feel hard again. Kind of rough to run in the summer for me though. I hope aqua jogging really helps.
I am having some problems eating. I know I am fine restriction wise because I ate a cupcake two weeks ago, but probably stress and anxiety has got my band tighter then normal. We went to eat last night and I got the little chicken tacos on a corn tortilla. I could barely finish one and they were small. I felt like I was going to be sick for the first time since the cupcake. Looks like it will be a soup day for me. Soup is always safe. I would give my big toe for some Chili's enchillada soup. Probably have to settle for taco bueno soup from drive through though since it is close to work. Some days I wish I could just eat like a normal person, but I would not trade my band for anything.

Finally Friday!!
So I was playing with my fat/skin roll in the mirror this morning. You know what I'm talking about? Taking the fold of skin and pulling it up tight so I could see what I would look like with a tummy tuck (I should be ashamed I know) and my port sticks out pretty far. I never noticed it until today but you can even see it when I'm not playing tummy tuck. It is kind of strange to see ANYTHING under my skin except cellulite.
The funniest thing happened yesterday, I had given up on my damn fortune that said good things were in store for me. But towards the end of the day I decided to swallow my pride and see where I came in on the 5K I ran Saturday. My garmin said 39:56 and I was happy with that but I knew there wouldn't be a whole lot of people behind me. Well apparently their timing mechanism messed up and had my finish time as 22:23!! It shows me as 2nd in my age group. It is the only time I will ever see my name on top instead of close to the bottom. I should call and tell them I want to pick up my award ;-) It put me in a good mood for the rest of the day.
We are leaving for Joplin some time today, not sure exactly when, the expo doesn't closed until 9 so we don't have to rush around. We have reservation at the OG (Olive Garden) for 8, which is later then I like to eat but I will live. The half starts at 6:30 so hopefully this time tomorrow I will be more then half way to the finish line. This should be the end of my running season, next big run will be the Tulsa Run in October. 3 half marathons, 1 ten miler, 1 10K and 3 5K in 76 days. I hope this last one will be as easy as the second one was.
OK, I need to figure out what is wrong with my ipod nano, it keeps repeating the same song even though I have it on shuffle. That would make for a really aggravating run tomorrow.
Hope you guys have a great weekend.

Ten things
1. After a weekend of binging and getting back up to 126.8, I am back down to 122.2. My original goal was 120 but I changed it to 118. I think my body likes 122 though.
2. I scheduled a fill for Monday, but since I am back down to my lowest weight I don't think he will give it to me. Did I tell you I ate an entire cupcake? I am not sure what I should do.
3. Stress is as good as a fill. I contribute my weight loss to the immense amount of stress and anxiety I am under. I won't go into all of it because I know you all have stress of your own. It is bad enough that I deactivated my Facebook account. I am having serious withdrawls.
4. I woke up with a rash all over my lower back. Not sure what it is from; it could be from the spray tan I got last week, stress, the new tide color catchers I put in my wash, allergies...who knows but I want to go rub my back against a tree like a cat.
5. Would love to take an hour of work but don't think that is possible because of the crap in number 3. I am running the half marathon in Joplin Saturday, we are leaving after work but I need to run a few errands before I go.
6. I am supposed to go aqua jogging with a friend tonight. I really need to be running errands but I know I need the exercise to help me from killing someone. Not sure how the chlorine will affect the rash. Which I guess I need to add to the list of possible causes?
7. I am really anxious about the half on Saturday. It is really hilly and the two girls I am going with say they plan on running it together. I am a lot slower then them and I really don't want to feel like I am slowing them down. The bad thing is there is a 3.5 hour cut off and I am a straight up 3:15 finisher. I am making myself sick just thinking about the things that could go wrong and make me DNF. I need to cut the shit out.
8. Once I finish the Joplin half I will be eligible for half fanatics!! Not that it means much to anyone but me but I am so super excited about it.
9. I wonder if I should go to minor emergency on my lunch break and have them look at my back. Dennis just said he thinks it could be shingles....I had chicken pox twice, it can't be.
10. I got a fortune cookie three months ago that says "Remember three months from this date, good things are in store for you" I am going to keep them to that promise. I need good things after the week I have had!!

the human vacuum and what stress will do the band
I spent the first part of the week inhaling food. An entire cupcake from a specialty bakery; yes please, Oreo pie, why not; an entire hamburger for breakfast? Bring it. Chinese buffet for lunch? Sure why not, I’ll even eat the entire plate of food that I normally just pick at. My weight was up almost 5 pounds Sunday. I called my doctor first thing Monday morning and told the nurse that I need a fill stat. She kind of agreed with me. I originally planned on going in today but I do have a half marathon to run Saturday so it might be better for me to wait until Monday. I need to call her again today to make sure she got my message and got it all fixed for me.
I called in sick to work on Monday because I woke up feeling overwhelmed (food hangover?). I knew it was one of those days that if you looked at me wrong I would burst into tears. My allergies were killing me and I just couldn’t make myself go. So I called in. No big deal, people do it all the time. I pretty much slept all day and felt much better that afternoon so I went to aqua jogging with my friend. She Facebook tagged me at the pool and I wrote something about having a sinus infection but since I have a half on Saturday I have no choice but to keep on running.
I normally get some serious anxiety issues before a big run and I am really starting to freak out about Joplin. The two girls that are going with me say they plan on the three of us running together. I know most people like to run with people but I don’t, I am slower then all of my friends and I don’t want to slow them down or for them to make me have a miserable time by pushing me to hard. Add to that the 3.5 hour cut off; they start tearing the finish line down at 10:00 after the 6:30 start. I am a 3:15 finisher so if ANYTHING goes wrong this was all for nothing. So add this to the normal work stress and some serious family (two aunts in the hospital, one that raised my dad had a heart attack and has fluid on her lungs; the other is my dad’s sister but my mom’s best friend who had a relapse of colon cancer and had to have all but 1 foot of her large intestine removed) and in-law drama (SIL from hell is a raging alcoholic, something we all knew but it is getting to the point that BIL and the daughter are finding her passed out face first in the kitchen floor). And of course there is Hunter’s surgery next week and the injection I have to get in my knee Monday, which from what I understand is the consistency of peanut butter; I have a lot going on.
I didn’t feel a lot better mentally on Tuesday but I knew I couldn’t get away with two days off work, I don’t do that unless I am REALLY sick and people from work are all calling and checking on me to see if I am near death. So I sucked it up and went to work yesterday. I really should have stayed home. On our desk we have wipe off boards where you can write if you are going to be in meetings/training, whatever. Well someone wrote on my board “broken nail, out all day”. I normally have a good sense of humor and am pretty laid back but I was so mad that I could feel the angry tears starting already and I just got to work. I saw my friend Kim and Shaun in our supervisor’s office; who is normally pretty cool, and I went in there and made a comment about how I didn’t think that was the least bit funny. Well my supervisor kind of laughed and made the comment that I must not have been that sick since I was able to make it to the gym last night. I told her I have a half marathon on Saturday and even if I am running 103 fever I am going to do it so that is irrelevant as far as I am concerned. I guess they had been laughing and joking around before I got in there but she angrily told everyone they needed to get out of her office and get some work done because she was tired of getting called on the carpet for stuff that was falling through the cracks. Whatever. Then about 5 minutes later she came out of her office and was screaming that she wanted status sheets on everything we are doing because we are not keeping up with our work, then she gathered our branch together and told everyone that no one is to write anything on anyone else’s white board. I got so mad because I knew it all started with me and she thought I was over reacting (maybe I was) that I told my friend Kim that I was going to the locker room. I sat down there for at least 30 minutes pissed off and crying – thank god for waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Then the fact that Kim didn’t come down stairs and check on me kind of made me mad too. No, I didn’t want to talk to anyone but I think given the same circumstances I would have at least checked on her. It was just a really shitty day. I deactivated my Facebook account, if I reactivate it I will hide all my work “friends”
Because of all of this I had my first experience with my band being affected by my emotions. I threw up water. I couldn’t eat at all until about 6 that night, everything came back up. Well, actually it hardly even went down. It was a completely different experience then I am used to. It was not a fun experience and made me almost as mad as crying because I am angry.
I got a fortune cookie 3 months ago that said “Remember three months from this date. Good things are in store for you” Well I taped it to the calendar and tomorrow is “the” day. I sure hope it is right.
So not to leave you on a depressing note, the 5K I ran on Saturday was lots of fun. A group of us went to eat before the run and drank a $.99 margarita. Never ran after drinking a margarita but it sure takes care of the carbs. There were a lot of people there that I knew, it is one of the bigger and oldest runs so they have a live band and a real party atmosphere. Anyway, my pace was really good through the first half of the run. I was getting ready to pass this group of guys and I saw them passing around a flask. I commented that I was just going to run with them, and they passed the flask to me. Being the idiot I am I took a drink….IT WAS SCOTCH!! I kept having to stop and let the waves of nausea pass, which included one last stop about 50 feet from the finish line. I was not going to puke in front of the crowd though. I finished in 39:56 so it wasn’t bad, not a PR but not my slowest by far.
I hope today is better; everyone is still pretty much avoiding me, which works for me.
So add this to the normal work stress and some serious family (two aunts in the hospital, one that raised my dad had a heart attack and has fluid on her lungs; the other is my dad’s sister but my mom’s best friend who had a relapse of colon cancer and had to have all but 1 foot of her large intestine removed) and in-law drama (SIL from hell is a raging alcoholic, something we all knew but it is getting to the point that BIL and the daughter are finding her passed out face first in the kitchen floor). work/life suck
I am a ball of anxiety and raw emotions. I have literally broke down in tears at least twice at work (which pisses me off more then anything).
I don't want to get into it now because I will just start crying all over again.
I called doctor to get a fill on Wed., but I am going to change it to next Monday. I hope that gets at least one of my issues under control.

Work out Wednesday
I hate spring. My allergies are in full force complete with a headache so bad I swear my ears are going to bleed. I am not going to use this as an excuse to not work out though. I am meeting a friend at the pool for some aqua jogging tonight!! I ordered a belt but it won't get here until tomorrow, so I will have to use a borrowed one from the gym. This isn't a class, just me and her doing our own thing. I haven't talked to her in a long time so it should be lots of fun. She is a really smart, funny, physically fit dynamo so she should get be me good an motivated. She is starting her serious training for desert rats, which is a 150 mile 7 day race across the deserts of Utah. She and her husband spend a lot of their free time sitting in a sauna to prepare. I have some crazy friends.
I am trying to decide if I should take tomorrow off. I found out yesterday that Dennis is off tomorrow. I am going to give blood; which will give me 4 hours of leave, but since it is his 50th birthday maybe I should just take all day? Then again I would have to take 8 hours of my leave if I did. I would get admin leave if I do the blood donation and I doesn't come out of my leave balance.
Still don't have a fridge. Dennis is such a; hum, how do I say this, cheapskate, that he is trying to find a used one instead of just going out to buy one. My boss has one she is selling for $400 but I can buy one new for $1,000. No clue how long this is going to last but obviously eating out is our only option. Last year at this time I would be over the moon about this. Now it just kills me to have to spend money on food that I will hardly eat. I can't even take the leftovers home for later. Last night Dennis brough pizza home. I ate one piece and the toppings off another. My weight was back up the .4 pounds I was down the day before. Of course it could be mucas from my damn allergies too (sorry for the visual).
Speaking of pizza, it is lunch time. I need to go pick up my race packet for the 5K Saturday and will have to either run into the grocery store and get some stuff for the office fridge (gross) or get fast(ish) food. This is getting really old really fast.

breaking out of my shell
Even though I didn't have anyone hold my hand, I went to aqua jogging last night. All by myself! Normally I would have put it off until I talked someone into going with me the first time. I have been before but it has been several years even then I went with my sister. I hate going to exercise classes by myself I am sure it stems from being overweight and thinking that everyone is looking at you. But, I had fun. It is a good workout and I burned 450 calories "playing" in the water. I even bought a jogging belt off the big internet retailer. This will get me through the 150 degree summer. I can totally see how it can help build your endurance.
I was rewarded with a .4 loss on the scale today. Still in the 122 range but it is .4 lower.
Still haven't figured out what to get Dennis for his birthday Thursday. I am giving blood at work that day so I get 4 hours off. I hate giving blood but I hate working even more ;-) . When I am finished with that I am going to go pick up cupcakes at a place I got a groupon at and take them to him at work. I really don't want them in my house. Other then that I have no clue.
I am sure he won't want me to spend money on him because our refrigerator went out 2 days ago and that has to be replaced and our dog Hunter is going to have to have surgery to have a tumor removed (just a fatty tumor but he is almost 12). Oh, and I need a new laptop because two of the keys fell off the keyboard and it makes a noise like someone is holding down a key. Annoying much!! I have a netbook but it has very limited memory and I can't use it for itunes or microsoft office.
Hum, I just need a nap......

in a funk
I feel so lazy and blah. I didn't work out once last week, nor did I pay attention to anything that went into my mouth. I complain because I am only 4 pounds from my goal yet I am not doing anything to get there.
I haven't ran at all since last Sunday. I swore I was going to at least go to the gym and ride the bike but did I? Nope. I am not sure why I am so lazy lately.
I swore to myself that I would stop drinking root beer (the one and only soda I can drink without pain) but I stopped and got a root beer on my way to work like it was second nature.
Over the weekend I ate chips and salsa, chips with queso, root beer, sno cones. I was going to grill burgers for dinner but my fridge was messing up and the meat was bad so I went and got fast food burgers and fries (granted I only ate a few fries and about a third of the burger, but still).
This, in the past, iswhat caused me to backslide. I don't look like the goodyear blimp anymore so I should be able to take it easy a little. NO, NO, NO!!
The Joplin half marathon is May 19 and I have to continue to train a little if I want to make the cut off. Which is another thing, I am kicking myself for how slow I am and feel like it is a waste of time to train since I am not getting any faster.
I really need to get out of my own head.
Plan for tonight is aquajogging since I finally bought a bathing suit. I don't have anyone to go with so I can see myself trying to make excuses to get out of it. NO EXCUSES.
UGH, I hate this feeling.

Things 2-9 things Thursday
2. I am met a friend for lunch who is going to make me some custom running skirts. I am so excited. There are so many fabric to choose from she might just have to put me on a payment plan. She is supposed to have one to me to wear for Joplin in a few weeks.
3. I shut the middle finger of my right hand in my garage door about a month ago. I am pretty sure the nail is coming off. It looks so gross and will only get worse.
4. We had an office challange yesterday to eat 10 pretzels in a minute or less. I tried my best to stay out of it but if there is one thing a runner can do it is eat pretzels when you have no saliva (they hand pretzels out at the water stops for the sodium). They only had 6 left so I took the challange and was the only one that was able to do it. I was so scared I was going to throw it up as soon as I swollowed the last bite. Note to self, you are no more food challanges, period.
5. Running schedule for the rest of the month is filling up. I need to do a 5 mile training run this weekend, signed up for a 5K the next saturday and the Joplin half marathon is the week after. I may just take a break from road running after that for a few weeks and do aqua jogging
6. Which leads me to....I have to buy a swim suit this weekend. I don't think this is ever an easy task. I want to start taking aqua jogging this summer when it is too hot to run outside but the last bathing suit I bought around this time last year was a 16. I have no idea where to even start.
7. According to the picture in the last post I really need to start working on my arms. I am getting bat wings.
8. Dennis' birthday is May 10 and I don't have anything for him. He is so hard to buy for. It is his 50th so I feel like I need to do something but I have no clue what. I asked him if he wanted an iPad and he wasn't interested. He is such a low maintenance person that it makes buying him something special that he will actually use really difficult. For his 40th I had training in San Francisco and I bought his plane ticket, work paid for the room, and I used my per diem for meals. We had a blast. Can't top that. He has changed jobs and it isn't easy for him to just take off and go with me anymore.
9. I am trying to decide if I want to plan something special on my bandiverary, which is coming up at the end of June. It falls on a falls on a Saturday so I don't have to worry about work. I have a few groupons that I can cash in. I have a little time to think about it, but since it is a weekend I probably need to figure it out pretty soon or I won't have many options.
10. I am trying to update my workout playlist. I have a ton of songs but they are getting a little old. My problem is I don't listen to a lot of new stuff. This is what is on it now. You can tell I am from the hair metal/grunge era. Not a huge fan of country but gotta support the locals, Garth and I are almost neighbors.

hump day
I want to thank everyone for their comments yesterday. Once again, I am blown away by the support of this community. It really means so much to me.
Not much on tap today after yesterday's novel length post.
I have 17 days until my next half marathon. After this one I will reach my Half Fanatic status; which is kind of like marathon maniacs for people who are only half crazy. You have to do a certain number of half marathon's within a time limit to qualify. I will qualify by doing 3 half marathons in 3 months. It is supposed to be my last of the season but I kind of want to do Wounded Warrior in Dallas. We will see. Although I would love to do the run I don't want to run in Dallas in June in 114 degrees.
Tonight I plan on working on my playlist for Joplin, shake up the music. I am making a list of my current playlist. I will post it when I am done to see if y'all have any suggestions for my eclectic music taste.
I also plan on going to the gym and doing 10 miles on the bike. I usually make fun of people who exercise and read but I really think I am going to take my Kindle with me to take my mind of the ass pain I will have from biking 10 miles.

OKC half marathon in the books
2012 Oklahoma City Memorial Half Marathon is in the books!!
First the trip report
The OKC Thunder made the playoffs and the first game was Saturday night. They had some of the roads downtown closed off for the media trucks so we wanted to get there before traffic became a huge issue. I got in and picked up my race stuff and a few things I just couldn't live without (haha) and we were heading out to eat lunch by 1. It was starting to get crowded.
After lunch we checked into our skanky hotel. After staying at the Westin in Austin it was worse then camping out. It could have been worse I guess; it wasn't the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, that is for sure, but not my first choice. We freshened up and went to the outlet mall. I wasn't in the mood to try anything on so I wasn't 100% in the shopping spirit. I did buy a new purse and matching wallet at Coach, and a pair of khaki's at Banana Republic for $9.97, way too good to pass up. We decided we would rather find a place close to the outlet to eat instead of close to the hotel (race start) because it would take forever. It was a little early so we putzed around a little and then went to eat. We got back to the hotel around 7:30, I made sure I had everything I needed and went to bed (a sleeping bag on top of the bed ) While we were putzing I found a place to have my bangs braided so I wouldn't have to deal with a sweaty band. I love it, I had my stylist redo it yesterday when I had my hair cut/colored. I think I am going to do this before every race!
I had my alarm set for 4:45, the race started at 6:30. Since Sandra wasn't running I tried to be quiet but again, this wasn't the Westin and you could hear everyone else running around getting ready. I got dressed and ready to go and caught the shuttle out at 5:30. It was kind of strange being by myself at the start, I am usually with at least one other person at the start. It was kind of good to just not have to talk and be able to get in my groove. They have 168 minutes of silence, then the national anthem. I never heard the gun go off. It took me 10 minutes to cross the start.
I knew starting out that my knee was going to give me trouble. I just ignored it the best I could. By about mile 5 there was no ignoring it. I felt like someone was trying to pry my knee cap off with a crowbar. It was worse if I tried to walk/run so I decided I was just going to have to run slow. The first few steps were very painful but it kind of went numb after that. Granted, I wasn't moving very fast but I didn't want to walk the rest of the course and have another horrible finish.
Around mile 8, where the half and full marathon splits, Sandra was there with her cowbell. I started to cry and told her I can't do it anymore, my knee just hurt way too bad. Did I mention it was pouring rain at this point? She said something to the effect of SUCK IT UP YA BIG BABY, that I would never forgive her or myself if she let me quit with only 5 miles to go. I was pissed but I remembered the story of the lady that was trapped under debris in the Murrah building who had to have her leg amputated with no anesthesia. If she could live through that I could live through a little knee pain. Luckily there was a medical tent close by, they gave me some tylenol and put some biofreeze on my knee. 2 minutes off my time that was well worth the stop.
I am not sure when the pain died down but it did and I was able to speed up a little and try to make up some time.
Mile 11 sucked. Most of the run I looked at my Garmin and thought, wow already at 6.65, or whatever but it was almost like I ran mile 11 backwards. I couldn't figure out why that was such a tough spot for me until my friend asked me after the race if that was the mile the guy in Little Rock died. Sure enough it was. I wonder if I will always have the mile 11 curse
Anyway, I was feeling better. Got through mile 11 and felt if not great, good enough to finish strong. I made a friend the last mile and we ran in together, which is always nice. We were trying to sing Going the Distance from Cake from memory. That was fun. Before we knew it we had turned the corner and was about 5 blocks from the finish. Being the good newly formed friend that he was, my duet parter took off like lightening and left me in his dust. I approached the finish line with a huge smile on my face and running strong with a finish of 3:15. Not great, but a finish is a finish and I am not ashamed of my finish time. I finished having fun, which is the key. My medal is so tiny compared to Little Rock and Austin!!
I was so tired when I got home I fell asleep with ice on my knee. I slept at lease 2 hours, Dennis left to go eat with his family for his mom's birthday at my favorite mexican place, but even that couldn't get me out of my chair.
Went to the sports med doctor yesterday. I think I heard his eyes roll when I told him I had ran a half marathon the day before. He is waiting for insurance to approve the Synvisc injections. He said on a scale from 1-4 my knee is at a 3. The injections should work for awhile but eventually I will be at a 4 and will need a partial knee replacement. I think he was just trying to scare me.
One more half marathon to go March 19, it will be another hilly one
I still haven't found my make-up. I have given up and started to buy new good stuff on piece at a time. I think the B-12 shot helped, I don't feel like I losing my mind as much. I am going to get another one this week
