I went to a house warming party for a friend at work last night. I also ran a really easy 2 miles with another friend from work right after work who is wanting to "learn" to run. Although those two things seem unrelated, because of the run I was starving before I got to the party. The rational part of my band brain told me to eat something before I went, the gluten in me said nope, there is going to be lots of food there to eat.
Long story short, cold cuts, cheese, chips, pretzels...if it had a high sodium and fat count, it was there. My problem was what we call Hamlin's dip (Hamlin's is a Mexican place about 45 minutes away that serves this artery killer with the chips and salsa. I was always smart enough when I lived close enough to that place to ask them not to bring it, and never tried it. Well I made the mistake of eating it because a friend made it. I seriously thought they were going to have to get me a straw. How bad is it you ask? Well here is the recipe I got this morning on email from the friend that made it:
2 quarts mayo
1/2 cups olives
1/2 cup onions
2 shakes of garlic powder
4 ounces blue cheese crumbles
Put in mixer
Here is the funny thing, I hate mayo and olives.
When I got to work they brought the leftovers in to the office, damn them, and they put it on my desk, damn them.
I didn't weigh this morning.
Tonight I am taking my mom to a concert, Dwight Yoakam!! I am usually not a fan of country music but my uncle used to be in a band that played southern rock, and they played his music all the time. That and the fact that he is a kick ass actor made me have a deep fondness for Mr. Yoakam. We are going to go eat at Toby Keith's before the show, which will be another calorie fest.
I am afraid to step on the scale. But, ya know, a lot of times after I eat like this my body kind of goes into a WTF mode and I end up losing. I hope that is the case!!
Someone stop me please.
